Rapper Macklemore reportedly walked away unhurt after his car was hit head-on by an alleged drunk driver in a pickup truck on Friday.
The Thrift Shop star, real name Ben Haggerty, was apparently driving his Mercedes-Benz in Langley, Washington on Friday night when a pickup truck driver crossed into oncoming traffic as it came round a bend and hit Macklemore’s car head-on, according to TMZ.com.
Macklemore had two passengers in his car and all three walked away from the accident, although one passenger was treated for a minor cut to the head.
Police sources told the website that the driver, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was left unconscious and bleeding after smashing his head into the windshield and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
He reportedly told officers he had been drinking alcohol and when they asked how much he had consumed, he replied, “5 o’clock.” Washington State Police say they will charge him with driving under the influence (DUI).
The 34-year-old, who is most famous for his collaborations with producer Ryan Lewis, has not referenced the incident on social media but seemed in good spirits in a video he posted on Instagram showing him performing tricks with a fidget spinner on Monday.
The rapper’s representatives have yet to respond to WENN’s request for comment.
